According to Variety, Ansel Elgort who will be playing Caleb I’m the upcoming adaptation of Divergent will be testing for the lead role in The Fault in Our Stars this weekend. The Fault in Our Stars will be starring Shailene Woodley who will play Tris in Divergent. Two Divergent actors could potentially star in The Fault in Our Stars! Check it out:
With Theo James landing the male lead in Summit’s “Divergent,” the next big role for young men is the one opposite Shailene Woodley in Fox’s “The Fault in Our Stars.”
Brenton Thwaites, Nat Wolff, Nick Robinson, Noah Silver and Ansel Elgort will test this weekend for the role of Augustus “Gus” Ware, the former basketball player who lost his leg to cancer who Woodley’s character, Hazel meets in a cancer support group.
Fox had no comment.
Josh Boone is on board to direct the adaptation which is based on the book by John Green.
Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber adapted the script with Temple Hill Entertainment’s Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen producing.
Given the book’s popularity and Woodley’s rising status, it’s been a priority to find her co-star and young thesps have chased the part with equal urgency. As of now, no one is considered a front-runner.
The WME-repped Thwaites was on the shortlist for the male lead in the next “Transformers” (which eventually went to Jack Reynor) and can be seen next in Disney’s “Maleficent.” Wolff was last seen in Focus’ “Admission” and is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Robinson is best known for his work on the skein “Melissa & Joey” and is repped by UTA and Principato-Young. The UTA repped Silver continues to be seen on “The Borgias.”
Elgort, who also stars with Woodley in “Divergent,” is repped by CAA and Brookside Artist Management
